4-Dimensional Design Experience
SUTD INJECTS ALL LEVELS OF THE CURRICULUM WITH ITS BIG-D VALUES IN WHAT WE CALL THE FOUR DIMENSIONS (4D) OF BIG-D

Desktop experiments, hands-on demos, concept quizzes, collaborative learning activities, etc.

  • 1D Big-D concepts taught within each foundation subject using desktop experiments, focused design experiences, hands-on demos and collaborative learning activities.
  • 2D Integrative Designettes that provide "horizontal" connections across the four foundation subjects in a term, culminating in design projects using knowledge gained from Math, Sciences, HASS and Design applications.

OVERVIEW OF 1D TO 4D

  • 3D Thematic Design Projects and Concept Vignettes that incorporate pivotal concepts taught during the Freshmore terms and provide students with "vertical" connections throughout pillar year subjects.
  • 4D Big-D "outside the box" and "behind the scenes" avenues in which students are allowed to explore, create, innovate and in essence, be limited only by their own imagination. Vehicles for 4D Big-D could include the fifth row, fabrication projects, industry internships and hacking.
