ABS, MPA and SUTD Ink MOU on Maritime Technology Professorship

Roundtable on ‘Globalisation and Cities’ organised by LKY CIC, SUTD and Global Cities Initiative
The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities, Singapore University of Technology and Design and the Global Cities Initiative: a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JP Morgan Chase will be hosting a roundtable discussion on ‘Globalisation and Cities’ on Oct 31, 2012 at the Four Seasons Hotel. The roundtable is the inaugural event organised by the Centre for Innovative Cities, which was established in September 2012.

Singapore Institute of Architects and Singapore University of Technology and Design Ink Memorandum of Understanding for Education and Professional Practice
The MOU signed by SIA President Mr Theodore Chan and SUTD Provost Professor Chong Tow Chong, is the first formal agreement signed by SIA with a university, as well as, SUTD’s inaugural agreement with the architecture industry. Come 2013, undergraduates and faculty specialising in the Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD) pillar from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) will have direct access to established practicing architects residing on campus.

President Tony Tan officiates at celebrations at the Inauguration Ceremony of SUTD
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) marked the official commencement of its undergraduate academic year with an Inauguration Ceremony today. The Inauguration Ceremony was officiated by the President of Singapore Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, who is also the University’s Chancellor, before a rousing gathering comprising SUTD’s pioneer batch of undergraduate students and faculty members.

MIT and SUTD Open International Design Centre
Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and its key collaborator, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), jointly opens a new facility today - the SUTD-MIT International Design Centre (IDC). The IDC is a joint research design centre of SUTD and MIT with facilities at both universities, in Singapore as well as MIT in Boston.

Singapore Management University and Singapore University of Technology and Design Ink Memorandum of Understanding for Education, Research and Exchange
Today, the Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that creates a framework for collaboration in education, research, and student and faculty exchanges. The signing of the landmark agreement between the two autonomous universities in Singapore was witnessed by Minister of State for Defence and Education, Mr Lawrence Wong.

Singapore University of Technology and Design runs second admission exercise
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) has commenced its second round of admissions to select students for the university’s first intake in April 2012. The second in a series of admission exercises, it is held from 3 October to 1 November 2010. Timed with this will be two admission briefings on 16 and 17 October 2010 where prospective students could obtain updates on SUTD’s curriculum, post-graduate programme and campus.

SUTD and MIT in talks to collaborate on Masters and Post-doctoral programmes
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have plans to collaborate on a dual Masters Degree Programme and a Post-Doctoral Programme. This was disclosed by Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, following his visit to MIT on 11 September 2010, where he met with President of MIT, Dr Susan Hockfield, and key MIT faculty.

Professor Chong Tow Chong Named Provost of Singapore University of Technology and Design
Professor Chong Tow Chong has been appointed as the founding Provost of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
As Provost, Prof Chong will assist SUTD’s President Prof Thomas Magnanti in steering the University’s development, including key areas such as its educational and research programmes. He will officially take on full responsibilities as Provost from 1 June 2010, although he will be deeply involved in the crucial early stages of SUTD’s development.
