Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Whatsapp SUTD and Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Collaborate on New Training Programme to Promote Innovation in the Built Environment Sector 30 May 2019 The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) collaborates with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) on a new training programme and system to promote leadership and innovation in the built environment sector. These initiatives were announced by Minister of State for National Development and Manpower, Mr Zaqy Mohamad, at the BCA Awards 2019 ceremony held on Wednesday, 29 May 2019. Under the new iBuildSG Leadership Engagement and Development (LEAD) framework, BCA will partner with SUTD and the Singapore Management University (SMU) on the bespoke structured programme - LEAD Horizon Programme. The innovation bootcamp, a technical track within the LEAD Horizon Programme, is designed for BCA and incorporates SUTD’s unique design innovation pedagogy. Leveraging SUTD’s unique strength in design innovation and active learning pedagogy, we look forward to equipping the participants with essential knowledge and skills to take on tomorrow’s challenges and stay future-ready. The training programme designed for BCA can be incorporated into SUTD Academy’s ModularMaster programmes, which can in turn lead to Master’s programmes, thereby providing a pathway for participants to up-skill themselves as desired,” said Professor Chong Tow Chong, SUTD President. In addition, BCA has worked with SUTD, the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and industry, on a new voluntary Maintainable Design Appraisal System (MiDAS). The MiDAS assesses the maintainability of building designs with a focus on labour efficiency and downstream maintenance.
