Bauhaus Spirit: 100 Years of Bauhaus

Prevailing tenants of well-designed objects stem from the celebrated design ethos of the Bauhaus; founded in Germany, and whose educational agenda sourced top intellectual talent from around Europe. The Bauhaus acquired much of its design school faculty from Germany, Austria and Hungary.

The Bauhaus Spirit: 100 Years of Bauhaus exhibition illustrates the multi-faceted role of a diverse academic faculty that developed the ethos of the Bauhaus during its formative years. It marks the 100th anniversary of the legendary Bauhaus movement in 2019.

SUTD Architecture Student Luminaires

This exhibit demonstrates the strength of SUTD Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD) students’ understanding of contemporary design issues relating to the creation of energy-efficient, functional and beautiful light fixtures.

It is a showcase of the mid-term maquettes that our SUTDents have constructed as tangible evidence of their design inquiry into the realm of modern LED-powered luminaries, and links their learning to the Hungarian Embassy’s historical exhibit of the Bauhaus Spirit.
