About

SUTD is proud to host the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Singapore 2019, sponsored by Springer Nature.

The 3MT, founded by University of Queensland in 2008, celebrates exciting research by postgraduate students. Participants are challenged to effectively communicate their research in a compelling manner to a non-specialist audience – in three minutes.

12 finalists from SUTD, NTU, NUS and SMU will compete for the top two prizes and the winners will represent Singapore at the 2019 Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition held in UQ, Australia.
Prizes

  • Winner: EUR 2,000 trip sponsorship + SGD 500

  • Runner-up: EUR 1,000 trip sponsorship + SGD 500

  • People’s choice: SGD 300

From the words of our very own SUTD Head of HASS, Prof Lim Sun Sun, ‘The 3MT Competition helps nurture a critical skill for academics, scientists and researchers who must ensure that academic research and its benefits for society are effectively communicated to the public.’.
