The donation, to be managed by the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at SUTD, will support SUTD in deepening research and innovation capabilities in sustainable, innovative cities; as well as research and educational initiatives related to the SUTD Eco-City Research & Innovation Centre (SERIC).

SERIC, launched at the Singapore-Tianjin Economic and Trade Council Meeting today by Singapore’s Minister for National Development Mr Desmond Lee and Tianjin Mayor Mr Zhang Gong, is set up to drive sustainable urban development solutions in support of the Eco-City's vision of a greener future.

Called STEAMunity, this community-centric programme is supported by MOE and National Research Foundation. It hopes to inspire students to solve actual community problems by combining Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) with Design and Artificial Intelligence (DAI).
