Lianhe Zaobao, 4 September 2017, Including Nigeria, Maldives and Laos, university students are going to more diverse locations for overseas internships (summarised translation)

It is common for local university students to go on internships, with many local internship opportunities available, although many students also choose to go overseas to experience the workplace. The overseas locations for internships are becoming more diverse and are no longer limited to the United Kingdom, United States of America and China.

In recent years, the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) has also opened up overseas internship opportunities. SUTD’s Associate Provost for Student Affairs, Prof Lim Seh Chun said: “The school will liaise directly with overseas companies to facilitate the internship placements. A number of our students have gone for overseas internships in countries such as Austria, Brazil, Cambodia and Portugal. At this moment, about 3% of our students embark on these overseas internships each year and our overseas partners include Embraer, Golden West Humanitarian Foundation, and a number of overseas start-ups.”
