Gilbert & Patricia Ong — SUTD Scholarship

The Gilbert & Patricia Ong — SUTD Scholarship is established to encourage academic and learning excellence by attracting outstanding talent to pursue their undergraduate education at SUTD.


ELIGIBILITY

The Scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens who

  • are full-time Freshmores, intending to pursue or enrolled at the University in the Engineering Product Development (EPD) degree programme;

  • have good academic standing;

  • possess strong leadership potential, good moral character and community spirit.


BENEFITS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

  • The Scholarship is valued at up to S$15,000 per academic year and is tenable for up to one academic year.

  • The Scholarship will be used towards the annual subsidised tuition fees (after the Tuition Grant Subsidy) and other study-related expenses.

  • No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship. The recipient must take up the Tuition Grant Subsidy from the Singapore Government.


TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Recipients are required to complete at least 10 hours of service to the University. They may take on the role of student ambassador, or any other similar role, representing SUTD to give publicity talks, to receive guests, etc., as and when called upon to do so.​

  • Recipients may not, without the approval of the University, hold concurrently any other scholarships or grants

  • The scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the University, the recipient’s academic progress or conduct is deemed unsatisfactory.

  • If the recipient decides to terminate the scholarship prematurely, SUTD reserves the right to impose a repayment on a case-by-case basis.


APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  • Existing students who are eligible will be invited to apply via MyPortal.

  • Late and incomplete submissions will not be processed.

  • Scholarships are awarded on the basis of competition among eligible applicants.

  • SUTD reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.

He played a pivotal role in engineering Armstrong’s transformation from a backyard start-up into a leading precision engineering component supplier with regional presence. His strong leadership and technical competence facilitate him to mentor many regional leaders and managers in their long-term career development with Armstrong Group. Mrs. Patricia Ong has been a very strong pillar of support in many areas during the journey of building Armstrong.
 
Coming from a very humble background and with limited opportunity to pursue higher education, Mr. Gilbert Ong and Mrs. Patricia Ong hope to extend their support to the needy students to complete their First University Degree.
