Supported by Temasek Foundation International, the Temasek Foundation International Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (TF Intl LEaRN) Programme seeks to develop future leaders with a global outlook through an exchange study in Asia. The TF Intl LEaRN programme will help facilitate learning excellence, build important network in the region, as well as increase social responsibility amongst the SUTD student community. 


Outbound (SUTD Students)

  • Full-time Singaporean undergraduates, in their sophomore or junior year of study, pursuing any pillar programme at SUTD

  • Selected for Design and Technology experience (DATE) @ ZJU, or accepted for student exchange programme at City University of Hong Kong, Hanyang University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Mahidol University, National Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan University or Pohang University of Science and Technology

  • Good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 4.0)

  • Ability to take on ambassadorial role required of an exchange student

  • Strong leadership, active 5th Row (co-curricular activities) and community involvement

Inbound (Students from Partner Universities)

  • Full-time undergraduates of Zhejiang University, City University of Hong Kong, Hanyang University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Mahidol University, National Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan University or Pohang University of Science and Technology

  • Completed 1 year of studies at the respective home university

  • Nominated for student exchange programme to SUTD by the respective home university

  • Good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 3.5) and proficiency in English

  • Fulfil immigration requirements in Singapore

  • Ability to take on ambassadorial role required of an exchange student

  • Leadership, active CCA and community service will be advantageous


  • The scholarship is tenable for one term of study.

  • The quantum will be used towards subsidising the TF Intl LEaRN Programme recipients’s airfare, accommodation, books and exchange-related/living expenses.

  • No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship.


TF Intl LEaRN Programme recipients are to participate in the following activities:

On Campus Activities, Project Work and Internships

  • Outbound: Classes at host universities, hands-on projects with internship opportunities at various companies.

  • Inbound: Classes at SUTD, collaborative projects with SUTD faculty/students and 5th Row (co-curricular activities).

Study Trips

  • Outbound: Study trips to understand the local history, culture and environment.

  • Inbound: Orientation programme as well as field trips to places of interest for them to learn more about the multi-racial and multi-cultural aspects of Singapore.

Contribution to Society

  • Outbound: Required to contribute a minimum of 15 hours to the community by engaging in a community service project and/or community service in the host country of exchange.

  • Inbound: Required to contribute a minimum of 15 hours in a community service project organised by SUTD or community service in Singapore.

Blogging and Sharing

  • Share their experiences with the student community in their home countries on their return; inspire others on leadership; enhance cross-cultural understanding; and promote a sense of social responsibility.

  • Keep a blog with photos journaling their daily experiences or interesting highlights.

  • Required to submit a 2000-word report on their exchange and community outreach experiences.

Peer Network

  • Form a peer network to maintain connections with all TF Intl LEaRN Programme recipients, forging a stronger sense of identity.

  • Assist other students in their decision-making and plans for overseas exchange.

  • Facilitate the sharing of local knowledge and expertise.

  • Participate in a joint networking event involving past recipients, student leaders, faculty members and industry representatives.

SUTD Learning Carnival

  • Participate in the Learning Carnival at SUTD to share learning and exchange experiences of host universities.

  • Present and exhibit projects undertaken at host universities.

Temasek Learning Journey

  • Participate in a 1-day Temasek Learning Journey (inclusive of a networking lunch) to better understand the donor organisation and its activities, as well as build a stronger cohesiveness and identity among TF Intl LEaRN recipients from other universities.


  • Students can apply for the programme during the application period for each academic year.

  • SUTD, Zhejiang University, City University of Hong Kong, Hanyang University, Hong Kong University of Technology and Design, Mahidol University, National Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan University or Pohang University of Science and Technology will undertake the initial screening and shortlisting of candidates.

  • The final decision to award the programme to recommend candidates shall be made by SUTD in consultation with Temasek Foundation International. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.
