SUTD-SP Special Programme (S3P)

The SUTD-SP Special Programme (S3P) is a special arrangement between the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) to offer outstanding students admitted to selected diploma courses in SP a longitudinal immersion and preparatory programme for their undergraduate studies at SUTD while in SP.

Programme Highlights

S3P students will have the opportunity to experience SUTD's distinctive pedagogy through specially-curated courses. These original courses are taken from SUTD's undergraduate curriculum and re-tailored for S3P students.

  • Gain conditional admission to SUTD
  • Get a head-start on your undergraduate studies at SUTD, while studying at SP
  • Attend two (2) specially-curated courses by SUTD
  • Be exempted from two (2) modules1 in the first year of your study at SUTD
  • Experience SUTD's unique pedagogy which emphasizes hands-on, design-centric and interdisciplinary learning
  • Get invited to SUTD workshops and events, and get a preview of student life in SUTD

Programme Structure

SP Academic Calendar

* Students may choose either to take the SP Advanced Mathematics electives during semester time or the SUTD Compact Mathematics course during semester break.

Specially-Curated Courses

Students enrolled in S3P with conditional admission to SUTD will take two (2) compact courses during your SP Year 2 semester breaks:

  • Compact Mathematics
    • The Compact Mathematics course has the same curriculum content as SUTD Freshmore Advanced Mathematics I module. It will be taught over three (3) full weeks during the SP semester break.
    • This course is optional for those students who take SP Advanced Mathematics electives 1-3.
    • Students who take SP Advanced Mathematics electives 1-3 can choose to sit for the Compact Mathematics test without taking the course.
  • Compact 3.007
    • The Compact 3.007 course has the same curriculum content as SUTD Freshmore Introduction to Design module. It will be taught over three (3) full weeks during the SP semester break.

Firm Offer of Admission to SUTD

Upon fulfilling the requirements for the conditional admission, you will be notified of your firm offer of admission to SUTD before SP Semester 6. At the same time, qualifying students will also be notified of any scholarship offers for your undergraduate studies.

The requirements include:

  • maintaining a satisfactory CGPA of at least 3.7;
  • passing all 3 of the Advanced Mathematics electives (offered by SP) or Compact Mathematics course (offered by SUTD); and
  • passing the Compact 3.007 course (offered by SUTD)

With B-grade passes in the Compact Mathematics2 and Compact 3.007 courses, students will be exempted from the following SUTD Freshmore modules respectively:
