FIRST Forum Panel

As part of the Workshop’s focus on strengthening existing industry-academia ties and fostering greater collaboration, the FIRST Forum Panel convened to examine, discuss and build on the Committee for Future Economy (CFE) findings, which were released in early 2017.


Matthew Lucas (Managing Partner, Davies Collison Cave) – Moderator

2017 Research Showcase

Over 50 innovative research projects from SUTD researchers were displayed at the SUTD Campus Centre. These research projects were structured around three of the Singapore Government’s Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2020 Plan (RIE2020) primary technology domains:

New methods and solutions that will improve the productivity of and add new capabilities for Singapore’s manufacturing and engineering sectors (both traditional and emerging), thereby ensuring their continued growth and business competitiveness.

Digital Solutions & Services

Continuing advances in artificial intelligence/machine learning, computing analysis, cybersecurity and other innovative areas will fundamentally change existing business models and set the stage for a whole new digital economy.

Urban Sustainable Solutions

Advances in urban mobility, water treatment, unmanned surveillance and other human-centric processes and solutions that will enhance Singaporeans’ living and working environment.
