Netflix produced a four-part series called ‘Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones’, hosted by Dan Buettner, who traveled around the world to discover five unique communities where people live extraordinarily long and vibrant lives. Episode 4 featured an interview segment with Professor Chan Heng Chee on Singapore and was launched in the Netflix limited series on 30 Aug 2023.
Sharing their stories to help other young people with mental health struggles
SUTD undergraduate, Riccia Lim, started interviewing young people for the project in 2020, along with other participants in the National Youth Council’s Youth Action Challenge. She said speaking to fellow young people has given her comfort and guidance in navigating adulthood.

Robots that can travel, fly and conduct rescue missions in disaster areas; Lakeside Primary School received the championship
The inaugural Robotics for a Better World Challenge was held on 23 August 23 at Rulang Primary School. With the theme ‘Disaster Relief’, the competition attracted about 130 students from eight primary schools and three secondary schools in the Western District.
SUTD holds 5G Wireless Access Network Summit to promote the development of local communication technology
SUTD held the first OTIC Global Summit on 23 August, inviting experts and industry players from various countries to exchange the latest achievements in 5G technology and discuss the feasibility of large-scale promotion and commercialisation of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN).
14 winners announced at Techblazer Awards 2023
The Techblazer Awards is jointly presented by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and SGTech. Greenairy, an innovation by SUTD students, received the Bronze award in the Student category.
MoU Between QCT and SUTD Promotes Smart 5G Open RAN in Singapore
This QCT-SUTD MOU extends their aim to democratise networking and facilitate O-RAN ecosystem building with the building of a joint lab. QCT and SUTD will work with OTICs in Singapore and Southeast Asia to co-organise the first O-RAN Plugfest in the region while supporting O-RAN related research.
