Our conviction to raise human potential is why SUTD made the pivot earlier this year to be the world’s first Design AI university. This is more than a label, and also more than whether AI is under- or over-hyped. Design AI is how SUTD slices through the hype because as our students show, we know how to make trusted and safe AI concrete, creative, and empowering.

Among you are many more stories—of courage, of creativity, and of quiet strength. You’ve been shaped by a dynamic, demanding education that has prepared you not only to master new technologies but to use them with wisdom, empathy, and purpose.

As you embark on the next stage of growth, remember to continue to challenge conventions —because the world you enter is one of rapid, relentless change. Technology is evolving at a breakneck pace, reshaping how we live, work, and connect.

Innovation is not only about technology. It is about people, purpose and perseverance. You—Class of 2025—are the designers of tomorrow’s world, and I have every confidence that you will shape a future that is brighter, more inclusive, and more compassionate.

The possibilities that NTN technology can bring are very exciting and that is only made possible because of our industry partners such as JSAT, TMYTEK, Rohde & Schwarz, and VIAVI, as well as the hard work and dedication of SUTD’s faculty and researchers.

As the world’s first Design AI university, SUTD is of the firm belief that Design and Artificial Intelligence will drive the future. As AI becomes more commonplace, questions that have plagued us since the advent of technology have become more pertinent.

As the name implies, InspireCon is a gathering of – creative and inquisitive minds, of innovative spirits eager to explore new frontiers of the unknown, and of enlightened professionals, keen to nurture new talent and always on the lookout for the Next Big Thing.

The STEAMunity programme, which stands for “STEAM community” is not just another exercise aimed at encouraging our youth to pick up STEAM or Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, it is much more meaningful.

Spiderman’s Uncle Ben famously said: “With great power comes great responsibility.” I urge all of you to take all that you have learnt during your time here and multiply it when you head back into society.

In a rapidly transforming world, aim to be a “Master of Change” rather than a “victim of change.” As the saying goes, “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain.” This means developing both agility and cognitive flexibility—the ability to learn and adapt strategies when needed.
