This global recognition honors Dr Zhang’s exceptional contributions to Artificial Intelligence and natural language processing. His research focuses on creating large language models (LLMs) that are inclusive, trustworthy, and culturally aware. He is a driving force behind SeaLLMs, one of the first open LLMs specialised for Southeast Asian languages, which has attracted significant community attention and adoption, as well as innovative open-source projects like Babel and Auto-Arena.
With over 60 publications at top-tier AI and NLP venues and a strong citation record, Dr Zhang was named among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in 2025, and recognised with the AAAI New Faculty Highlight in 2026.
