Double win at the German Design Award 2026
SUTD Assistant Professor Immanuel Koh has received two honours for his works—Neural Monobloc Black, and AI Sampling Singapore—at the prestigious German Design Award 2026, a global platform recognising excellence in design.

The subtle choice of materials and the powerful design language give Neural Monobloc Black an impressive presence. The combination of AI-generated design and traditional woodworking not only encourages social interaction, but also creates a characterful dialogue on consumption and sustainability. What stands out is the strategic evolution of the Monobloc theme, fulfilling the demanding Gold distinction with a clear commitment to relevance and future viability.
AI Sampling Singapore
Gold, Excellent Architecture, AI in Architecture and Metaverse Space Design

The remarkable precision in digitally capturing and interpreting complex architectural structures lends AI Sampling Singapore impressive depth. The combination of generative neural networks with a confident approach to three-dimensional forms results in an aesthetically and conceptually distinctive ensemble. Especially compelling is how visionary possibilities of digital architecture are consistently explored and realized here.
At SUTD, Assistant Prof Koh teaches in both Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD) and Design and Artificial Intelligence (DAI). He directs artificial-architecture.ai, an interdisciplinary research laboratory that focuses on the design and development of deep learning models for artificial creativity, generative architecture, predictive urbanism and defence intelligence. The AI Sampling Singapore project has won several other accolades including BLT Built Design Award, World Architecture Festival, International Design Awards, and A’Design Award.
