Courses and modules
These industry-relevant courses focus on equipping Singaporeans with emerging skills in areas such as Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Design Innovation, Digital Media, Advanced Manufacturing, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and others.
Educator’s Toolkit: Exploring IoT Concepts through Engaging Projects
It is a 2-day workshop to introduce Internet of Things (IoT) technology and the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), a popular communication protocol for IoT devices. Participants will have a chance to develop simple IoT devices/prototypes to demonstrate the applications of IoT. Through the hands‐on project using an ESP microcontroller, participants can learn about Arduino coding, physics of various sensors, simple circuit and electronics, soldering skills and so on.
Fundamentals in Python (Basic)
Python is an interpreted high-level programming language for general-purpose programming. Created by Guido van Rossum and first released in 1991, Python has a design philosophy that emphasises code readability, and a syntax that allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code, notably using significant whitespace. It provides constructs that enable clear programming on both small and large scales.
Secure Software Engineering
In this class, we will introduce the role of security in various stages of software development process. Afterwards, we will introduce common security vulnerabilities. Subsequently, we will focus on coding practices in C/C++ as well as Java, which improve software security.
Software Engineering
The new digital world calls for software engineers who are able to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment. This requires software engineers to be flexible, collaborative, innovative and courageous in challenging the norms and traditional approaches.
Swift App Development Fundamentals
Swift is a programming language developed by Apple Inc. for building applications across all Apple products. In the course, participants will build applications from scratch using the Xcode Integrated Development Environment (IDE) while also understanding the fundamentals of design-thinking. By going through the entire design thinking process, learners will understand how design and engineering interface in order to solve real, pressing problems in the world and to create radial, innovative solutions.
Understanding Product Security Certification
Under the Smart Nation initiative in 2014, it is anticipated that there shall be growing inter-connectvitiy betweeen smart devices and sensors. Increased interconnectivity leads to increased dependencies between smart devices and sensors. Hence, it is crucial that each node in the network of devices implements safeguards to thwart potential cybersecurity attacks. In 2019, Singapore attanined the status of Common Criteria Certificate Authorising Nation. Common Criteria is the de facto standard for cybersecurity product certification around the world. Today, 31 nations, including Singapore are of the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) for mutual recognition of certification
