Samir Arora – SUTD Bursary

The Samir Arora – SUTD Bursary is established to provide financial assistance to deserving undergraduates pursuing their studies at SUTD.
Eligibility
  • Full-time undergraduate students in any year of study
  • Any nationality
  • Demonstrated financial need with monthly household Per Capita Income of S$2,500 and below, or the prevailing upper limit for monthly household Per Capita Income as specified by the Ministry of Education for the eligibility criteria for the Higher Education Bursary
  • Good academic standing
  • Active in Fifth Row and community service involvement will be advantageous
  • Not holding a scholarship concurrently

Benefits of award
  • Each Award is valued at S$6,500 per academic year and shall be applied towards the payment of tuition fees and study-related expenses.
  • No bond attached
Tenure

Each Award is tenable for 1 academic year.

Things to note

Recipients must have taken up the Tuition Grant Scheme by the Singapore Government. This is automatically done upon completion of the Tuition Grant Declaration Form during enrolment at the University.

Samir Arora is the Founder of Singapore-based, Helios Capital Management.

 

Samir received his undergraduate degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi in 1983 and his MBA (gold medallist) from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta in 1985. He also received a Master’s degree in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and was a recipient of the Dean’s scholarship for distinguished merit while at Wharton.

 

Samir’s philanthropic interests are in the areas of helping the cause of children, seniors and differently abled. He is also one of the founders of Ashoka University, India.
