Worldwide Hotels – Choo Chong Ngen Bursary Award

Eligibility

• Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any year of study and in any degree programme at the University
• Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents
• Good moral character and community spirit
• Have demonstrated financial need with monthly household Per Capita Income of S$2,500 and below

Benefits of award

• The Award quantum will be commensurate with the level of financial need as assessed and shall be applied towards annual tuition fees and other study-related expenses.
• No bond attached

Tenure

• Each Award is tenable for one year only.
• Recipients may reapply to be considered for the Award in their subsequent year of study, subject to meeting the prevailing eligibility criteria of the Award.

Things to note

Recipients must have taken up the Tuition Grant Scheme by the Singapore Government. This is automatically done upon completion of the Tuition Grant Declaration Form during enrolment at the University.

Mr Choo Chong Ngen, the Chairman of Worldwide Hotels Group, is a strong advocate of education, with the belief that financial constraints should not bar talented individuals from pursuing their education aspirations. In line with this vision, he founded the Worldwide Hotels – Choo Chong Ngen Foundation to help less privileged students pursue higher education. To date, more than $14 million has been donated to local universities, polytechnics, and institutes of technical education to establish bursaries. In celebration of Worldwide Hotels Group’s 30th Anniversary celebrations in April 2024, the Foundation donated $2 million to the Singapore University Technology and Design (SUTD), further enabling students to achieve their dreams without financial barriers.
