Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Scholarship

The Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Scholarship is established to promote meritocratic access to education and provide opportunities to students with demonstrated financial need.
Eligibility
  • Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Full-time undergraduates in any year or programme of study at the University
  • Have good academic standing
  • Demonstrated financial need with Per Capita Income of S$2,500 and below per month
  • Possess strong leadership potential, integrity, good character, strong moral values and community spirit
Benefits of award
  • The Scholarship is valued at up to S$15,000 per academic year for up to 1 academic year, and shall be applied towards the payment of tuition fees and study-related expenses.
  • There is no bond to be fulfilled towards the donor.
Terms & conditions
  1. The recipient may not, without the approval of the University, hold concurrently any other scholarships or grants.
  2. If the recipient decides to terminate the scholarship prematurely, SUTD reserves the right to impose a repayment on a case-by-case basis.
  3. The recipient is required to achieve and maintain good academic standing. Academic performance will be reviewed every term. The Scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of SUTD, the recipient’s academic progress or conduct is deemed unsatisfactory.
  4. The recipient must have taken up the Tuition Grant Scheme by the Singapore Government during enrolment. Read more on the Tuition Grant Scheme here.
  5. Recipients are required to complete at least 10 hours of service to the University. They may take on the role of student ambassador, or any other similar role, representing SUTD to give publicity talks, to receive guests, etc., as and when called upon to do so.
Application procedures
  • Existing students who are eligible will be invited to apply via MyPortal.
  • Late and incomplete submissions will not be processed.
  • Scholarships are awarded on the basis of competition among eligible applicants.
  • SUTD reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.
