Edwin Koh

Edwin is Associate Head of Programme (Design and Artificial Intelligence) and Capstone Programme Director at SUTD. He serves on the Grand Challenges Scholar Program (GCSP) New Programs Committee, founded by the United States National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and is the founding chair of the International Conference on Advanced Design Research and Education. Edwin has held full-time and visiting positions at the National University of Singapore, New York University, and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). His research focuses on the design of engineering products and appears in journals such as Research in Engineering Design, Journal of Engineering Design, and Design Studies.
Edwin received his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and S.M. in Manufacturing from the Nanyang Technological University. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as part of his master’s studies and holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Design from the University of Cambridge.
Kenny Choo

Kenny is an Assistant Professor in the Design and Artificial Intelligence programme and Information Systems Technology and Design pillar at SUTD who leads research in Human-Computer Interaction.
He leads the Context-Aware Interaction Lab and his research focuses on cyber-physical sensing to augment human performance and understanding and enabling Human-AI interaction. He designs and develop context-aware interfaces that can bridge interaction and communication between people and help them empathise with each other. He uses techniques such as computer vision, audio processing, and natural language processing to empower these interfaces. His research has been published in top tier venues such as CHI, MobiSys, UbiComp (IMWUT), TOCHI and IJCAI.
