Innovating with Design & AI-3 (IDeA-3) (From AY2026)
Innovating with Design and AI-3 (IDeA-3) develops the core competencies introduced in IDeA-1 and IDeA-2 by using process-based design thinking to expand previously discussed concepts into new discoveries and opportunities. Students will pull apart and re-assemble their research as part of their making and investigation into form.
Spatial thinking will be treated as an essential skill, engaging both three-dimensional reality and the element of time. The course will continue to develop and deploy different visualisation techniques such as sketching to aid design thinking and strengthen students’ abilities to work together across design languages in both 2D and 3D representation.
As a culmination for the IDeA course sequence, students will present scaled physical models that translate their explorations into ever-greater complexity, reflecting a process of continuous production, experiential learning, and iterative development.
