Qualitative & Quantitative Research Methods (From AY2026)

This course provides a foundation in the study of research design across both qualitative and quantitative traditions, with an emphasis on their application in an AI- and design-driven world. Students will explore how human experiences and social patterns, can be examined through interviews, observations, and case studies, alongside surveys, experiments, and statistical analysis.

Design perspectives will highlight how methods can be used to frame problems, generate user insights, and guide innovation. Students will also engage with selected AI tools for tasks such as data coding, text analysis, and visualisation, to deepen their understanding of how emerging technologies are transforming research practice. By combining conceptual inquiry with applied experimentation, the course equips students with critical skills to design, conduct, and evaluate research across disciplines.
