The Design-2-Venture Grant (D2V) supports SUTD-affiliated teams that are on the cusp of launching to commercialise their solution. Designed for ventures that have tested their solution with potential adopters, D2V offers equity-free funding, structured milestones, and venture support to help teams take their first serious step toward sustainable operations.

This programme is designed for:

  • Teams or founders who have tested their solution with potential adopters
  • Ventures that are currently running run small-scale pilots or early trials
  • Founders ready to incorporate their business
  • Teams able to operate across core company functions (product, business, service delivery)

  • If you have already generated significant revenue (above S$20,000 in a calendar year), consider other fundraising pathways with our investment team.
Programme Journey
  1. Application
    Submit a proposal outlining your solution, user validation progress, and readiness for market deployment.Shortlisted teams are invited to pitch and demonstrate commercial viability and execution capability.
  2. Selection
    Teams are evaluated competitively based on user feedback, product readiness, validated business model, and team capability.Only top teams in each cohort are selected to receive the grant.
  3. Execution
    Deploy your solution to paying users and execute against defined commercial milestones.Teams are expected to get their solution into users’ hands within the first month of award, perusing early traction, rapid learning and further validation of real market demand.
  4. Reporting & review
    Track progress, validate outcomes, and demonstrate operational discipline through structured check-ins and reporting.By the end of the programme, teams should target to demonstrate clear signals of market adoption and scalability.

Are there any conditions to spending?

Yes, the grant is subject to funding guidelines set by the funding agencies to ensure that they are properly utilised. Please contact us at entrepreneurship@sutd.edu.sg to find out about what is fundable and what is not.


Does every member of a team applying for D2V Grant need to be from SUTD?

No, teams do not need to be composed entirely of SUTD members. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds, including members from other Institutions of Higher Learning or the industry. However, the team must include at least one SUTD-affiliated founding member who holds a minimum shareholding of 30% in the company to be incorporated.


What kind of support can I receive?

We provide aspiring founders with a range of incubation support from mentors, industry experts, dedicated venture partners, networking opportunities and introductions to potential investors.


I have received prior grants. Am I eligible to apply?

We administer a range of grants which can also apply to teams that have received prior grants. Please contact us at entrepreneurship@sutd.edu.sg to find out if you are eligible.
