Synopsis

As the global push toward net zero intensifies, the built environment emerges as a pivotal arena for transformative climate action. In this session, Karan Sinsinwar, Technical Director, Sustainability at AECOM Singapore, will examine how decarbonization strategies are evolving beyond conventional energy efficiency to embrace whole-life carbon thinking, digital innovation, and integrated design approaches. Drawing on over a decade of international experience, he will share practical insights into embedding carbon management across the entire project lifecycle—from early-stage design optioneering to operational performance. The talk will introduce cutting-edge frameworks such as ScopeX™ and AECOMzero™, which empower stakeholders to make data-informed decisions and implement scalable, high-impact solutions. Attendees will gain a broader perspective on how design, policy, and technology can converge to shape resilient, future-ready cities—and why redefining sustainability beyond net zero is essential for meaningful progress.

Speaker

Mr Karan Sinsinwar is Technical Director, Sustainability at AECOM Singapore, bringing over 11 years of international experience in advancing net zero and decarbonization strategies for the built environment. He leads environmental design and performance analysis across infrastructure, healthcare, and mixed-use developments, integrating sustainability frameworks that align with leading certification standards. His expertise includes climate analysis, dynamic thermal and energy modeling, computational fluid dynamics, and environmental benchmarking. Karan has delivered multiple first-of-their-kind developments, including Asia’s pioneering Zero Energy theme park and several Super Low Energy facilities. He works closely with government agencies, developers, architects, and engineers to embed data-driven sustainability from early design through execution, enabling resilient, high-performance outcomes that support long-term carbon reduction goals.
