In this session, Rohit Bansal draws on two decades of experience at the intersection of technology and global finance to offer students an industry-first perspective on how emerging technologies are transforming the financial landscape. Rather than focusing on machine learning concepts already covered in the classroom, this talk explores the real-world application of AI/ML in institutional banking – from trade surveillance and fraud detection to smart contracts and algorithmic trading.

Rohit will discuss the powerful convergence of AI, cloud computing, blockchain, data analytics, and cybersecurity – and why their intersection is driving a fundamental shift in how banks operate, serve clients, and build internal platforms. He’ll also share insights into how Citi is both advising clients and reinventing itself through these technologies, as well as how software engineering is evolving in the age of agentic AI and co-pilots.

This session is designed to help students connect classroom theory with practical impact, and understand how emerging tech is reshaping one of the world’s most complex and regulated industries.
