Synopsis

Singapore’s tropical equatorial context has enabled unique urban design approaches. The “Well-being for All” guest lecture invites everyone to understand how well-being in our city can be planned and designed for. Under the umbrella of Planet, People, Prosperity, the guest session aims to provide a holistic perspective on empowering Loveability in our city, framed by the 12 Principles of Well-being from our published research. Relevant case studies, research insights and observations will allow attendees to understand systemic impacts that can transform spaces in our cities into nurturing environments that advocate for Well-being. The inclusive presentation welcomes everyone regardless of discipline and degrees of urban understanding, to share and exchange in conversations.

Speaker

Yann Follain is the Founder and Head of Design of WY-TO Singapore and Lead Researcher of the published “Well-being for All” research book. Influenced by his multicultural formative years, Yann embraced a research-driven and holistic built environment approach to grow WY-TO Singapore. His established expertise in curating experiential journeys further value-added to the list of design services that enabled his Team to be awarded the C40 Reinventing Cities for the former Bukit Timah Fire Station for their community place strategy. A frequent speaker regionally on Planet-People integrative sustainability, Yann is recognised for his commitment to systemic design, which draws on contextual heritage and culture in scaling urban planning, community programming, and cultural curation. In 2022, together with his Team, he embarked on a holistic research study that quantifies well-being strategies through the lens of the built environment as a recipient of the Good Design Research initiative by the DesignSingapore Council.
