Synopsis

The rise of artificial intelligence, automation, and digitalisation poses both potential risks and opportunities. While these technologies have the potential to boost productivity, their impact on jobs and skills depends critically on how work is designed, and whether these technologies are deployed in labour-automating or labour-augmenting ways.

This session invites participants to reimagine work design in the age of AI and automation. Grounded in extensive organisational practices, this session introduces a structured, human-centric, and skills-first approach to identify how functional tasks can be automated, augmented, or reorganised, and how jobs can be reconstructed into higher-value, future-ready roles. It will also share empirical findings from organisational work transformation efforts, and highlight implications for research on job quality, expertise, and human-AI co-intelligence.
