Partnering GenAI: A Practical Primer for GenAI in Higher Education

SUTD’s educational model blends design, technology, and human-centred thinking to prepare students for a world in constant transformation. With the rise of Generative AI (GenAI), we are witnessing one of the most significant shifts in how knowledge is created, accessed, and shared. At SUTD, we embrace these changes by supporting our faculty, students, and staff as they adapt to this new landscape.

As the world’s first Design AI university, SUTD is not simply integrating GenAI into our classrooms. We are fundamentally rethinking how Design, AI, and human learning interplay.

This primer captures how we approach GenAI at SUTD, as a platform for deeper inquiry, collaborative design, and societal impact. We share our take on the use of GenAI, how students and faculty are currently using GenAI, and how we can design the future of learning with GenAI.
