Biography

Dr Wenxuan Zhang is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) Pillar, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), where he leads the iNLP Lab. He is a Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellow (Class of 2026) and holds the SUTD Assistant Professorship (SAP) research award. Before joining SUTD, he was a research scientist at Alibaba Group Singapore, where he received the Ali Star award. He obtained his PhD from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, advised by Prof Wai Lam.

His research spans natural language processing, large language models, large audio-language models, and LLM agents, with the goal of building AI systems that work reliably and efficiently for diverse people and languages in real-world settings. He has published over 60 papers in top-tier AI conferences and journals, and (co-)led several widely adopted open-source projects, including SeaLLMs, Babel, Auto-Arena, and Myna. His work has been featured in the AAAI New Faculty Highlight and received a SAC Highlight award at ACL 2026. He was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2026 list and listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists. He serves on the organizing committees of leading conferences and is a regular Area Chair at ACL, ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, and AAAI.
