Episode 4 of the Netflix four-part series hosted by Dan Buettner featured an interview segment with Professor Chan Heng Chee on Singapore. This was launched in the Netflix limited series on 30 Aug 2023.

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) recently to explore research and academic collaborations in cities.   As part of the collaboration, a delegation comprising Prof Cheong Koon Hean, Dr Harvey Neo and Dr Samuel Chng (LKYCIC) and Assoc Prof Yeo Kang Shua (Architecture and Sustainable Design; ASD) visited Shanghai from 20 to 24 Aug 2023 for an academic exchange with the Shanghai Academy of Social Science.

Our graduate students in the Master of Science in Urban Science, Policy and Planning (MUSPP) had been hard at work applying the skills and knowledge to a host of pertinent urban challenges we face today and presented their research at the Summer Soirée held on 15 Aug 2023 to the faculty, practitioners and policymakers.

LKYCIC was delighted to host the Ambassador-designate to Turkey, Her Excellency Kok Li Peng on 17 Aug 2023.

The conference was held on 14 Aug 2023  at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. It was organised by the Singapore University of Technology and Design’s Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities, the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and Institute of Policy Studies.

Episode 5 of PBS (Public Broadcasting) six-part series – ‘Human Footprint’, featured a segment on Singapore and was aired in the USA on 2 Aug 2023. Prof Cheong Koon Hean was interviewed on how Singapore embraced biophilic design, and its success in balancing housing and development with greening and biodiversity.

LKYCIC is pleased to announce that Dr Harvey Neo has been appointed Editor (East Asia) of “Human Geography” with effect from 1 August 2023. Published by SAGE, the journal is committed to an array of research (ranging from political economy, to cultural economy to political ecology) that will stimulate debates and spark social change.”

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at SUTD, and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and Institute of Policy Studies at NUS, are jointly organising the conference on 14 August 2023, to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

LKYCIC was delighted to host the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman and University of Nizwa delegation on 11 Jul 2023. The delegates were led by Mr Yasir Al Maskari, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman.
