Mr John Leong is Chief Lifelong Learning and Innovation Officer at SUTD, and concurrently the Director of SUTD Academy. John started his career as an engineering-educator, having worked as an R&D engineer and then taught in an Institute of Higher Learning before taking on different management roles. Since 2012, John has taken on leadership roles in the CET sector before the national SkillsFuture movement started in 2015.

Through his extensive leadership tenure in the CET sector, he has supported many working professionals in their upskilling and reskilling journeys. He works with enterprises to promote lifelong learning for their employees by developing training programmes focused on relevant skills. John also works closely with government agencies such as SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), Workforce Singapore (WSG) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to roll out key training programmes to support the growth of the economy and help working professionals to pivot to the right skillset for their career growth.

John holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science degree in Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey.
