Mr. Samir Hoon first joined Industrial Light & Magic in 1994, where his first project – as Technical Director – was Mission Impossible. During his 13 years in ILM (San Francisco), Samir rose through the ranks from Technical Director to CG Supervisor, with credits on movie such as Star Wars Episode I, II, III and Terminator 3.

Mr. Samir collaborated with Stanford University’s, Prof. Ron Fedkiw and his Phd students to use their physical based modelling software(PHYSBam) to generate particle level set (PLS) fluid simuations for Terminator 3.

 

Later, he moved on to become VFX Supervisor, on projects such as XXX and Eragon. Samir then moved to India in 2007, where he was President of Visual Effects at Prana Studios, supervising the delivery of international VFX quality projects.

 

In June 2012, Samir returned to ILM, joining the Singapore studio as Studio Supervisor. In this role, he is responsible for planning the expansion of the studio’s capabilities, and for developing the business, technical, and creative capacity of the studio to deliver future work.

 

Mr. Samir holds a BFA in Film Production and Photography and a Masters in Computer Animation from Sheridan College.
