Slot allocation amidst COVID-19 recovery
Airlines, Airports and Slot Coordinators recently returned from the 150th Worldwide Slot Conference, where they worked to establish access to capacity constrained airports, informing flight schedules for the forthcoming season. The process of allocating airport slots normally takes reference from industry guidelines and regulatory oversight that strive to provide fair and transparent access. These guidelines were not developed with long-term disruption in mind, and the COVID-19 pandemic has seen different stakeholders respond in different ways.
Through this webinar and online panel session, airlines, regulators, and slot coordinators that operate in Southeast Asia were brought together to share insights on how they managed airport slot allocation during the COVID-19 pandemic, what has been learnt for dealing with future disruptions and what needs to be done to support the industry as it recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
This event was organised by the Aviation Studies Institute as part of its objective of supporting the development of aviation in Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific.
This builds upon the institute’s white paper, published in March 2022.
