Mission

Design and drive strategic human-centric innovation programmes and organisational transformations through: pedagogical/education innovation, co-creation, design guidance, incubation and training projects, becoming a catalyst at the center of engineering, architecture, science, psychology, and business.

Vision

To be a transformative Design Innovation force driving human centricity via impactful education, research, mindsets and principles across enterprises, governments, Singapore and beyond.​

History

2012: The SUTD-MIT International Design Centre (IDC) was launched, which aimed to become the world’s premier scholarly hub for technologically-intensive design.

2015: As part of the IDC, Design Innovation @ Singapore (DI) was formed to organise and drive design- and technology-centred innovation programmes and initiatives for Singapore and beyond.

2021 to 2022: DI was integrated under DesignZ, our strategic design centre to reinforce Design as a core offering of SUTD.

2024: DI was integrated under the Office of Innovation and Enterprise to offer design consultancy and education services.

2025: DI joined SUTD Academy to potentially deliver more value and impact for more organisations with the incorporation of Design·AI.
