The nature of employment and what entails a meaningful job and satisfying life has evolved following the pandemic. As individuals reassess their life goals and priorities and embark on alternative careers, the conventional definition of underemployment requires rethinking. This study seeks to uncover the complex decision making processes and key factors contributing to underemployment in Singapore, including skills, motivations, and career/life stage, alongside economic and industry transformations that are shaping employment trajectories. The study aims to contribute towards the redefinition of what it means to be gainfully employed.
