Design Thinking and Innovation Project Showcase at 2025 Crea8 Sustainability Competition
As part of a broader collaboration with PacificLight Power Pte Ltd, the SUTD’s Science, Mathematics and Technology (SMT) cluster was honoured to take part in the 2025 Crea8 Sustainability Competition Prize Presentation and Showcase, held at the Singapore Discovery Centre on 6 September.
Our students and faculty, led by Dr Chandrima Chatterjee (Senior Lecturer, SMT) presented a line-up of activities which included an SUTD Design Thinking Project Showcase, a hydrogen fuel cell workshop, and a sharing session on SUTD’s Design·AI-focused pedagogy.
Pioneering student showcase
Five original student prototypes were featured at the showcase, each reflecting a unique blend of creativity, technical rigour, and human-centred design. This marks a significant milestone—the first-ever external and public showcase of our Term 2 students’ works from the Design Thinking and Innovation course.
Four projects—AuraWall, LeafMeBe, Wavelet, and Carousel Tray Return—were developed by Freshmore students, while the fifth, Project Mimir, an innovative Braille 3D printer, was created by students from the Engineering Product Development (EPD) pillar.

The showcase attracted a wide audience of students, parents, educators, and industry professionals, who had the opportunity to interact with our student teams and learn more about SUTD’s distinctive approach to education.
Our participation at the event underscores SUTD’s strong commitment to design excellence. Through initiatives like these, SMT continues to champion innovation that bridges science, technology, and creativity.
