Innovation and Research Opportunities Programme (IROP)

Research is integral to education at SUTD. IROP aims to foster a spirit of learning and inquiry in our students and promote a culture of innovation in research—aligned with SUTD DIVE—by engaging faculty and students on cutting edge and innovative research projects.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I am accepted into IROP?

Students will receive an email one week before new term starts. Otherwise, drop us an email at irop@sutd.edu.sg.

I am working on a project but cannot complete within 1 term. What should I do?

You will have to discuss with your supervisor who will then submit a request for project extension to the IROP office. Please note that the maximum duration allowed for an IROP project is 2 terms.

How do I know if I am eligible for an IROP certificate?

At the end of your IROP,  you will be evaluated by your project supervisor. If your work is deemed satisfactory, your supervisor will recommend you for an IROP certificate. An email will be sent to you with your e-certificate. Participation will also be recorded in your Fifth Row transcript.

Where can students view the list of projects available?

Projects are available online via MyPortal during the student application period.

Can students participate in IROP more than once?
