FAQ

Who qualifies for NAMIC co-funding?

All industry collaborators (start-ups, SMEs, LLEs, MNCs) who wish to explore Additive Manufacturing in the respective business domain.

How does it work?

NAMIC assists partners & start-ups in 3 steps:

Project Initiation – Develop technical and business needs, identify the research partner, and assist in the project proposal submission.

Project Execution – Manage the project to ensure successful completion.

Project Commercialisation – Develop viable commercialisation plan.

What type of project is eligible for the co-funding?

We support both industry and translational projects that explore the potential application and commercialisation of Additive Manufacturing technology. The project’s duration should not exceed 24 months.

Who is NAMIC’s partner?

NAMIC partners closely with Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), Enterprise Singapore (Enterprise SG), Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), NTU SC3DP, NUS Centre for Additive Manufacturing (AM.NUS), SUTD DManD, SIT (NAMIC Hub@SIT), AIC A*STAR, Polytechnics (NYP, TP, SP), trade associations, local and global 3D printing company leaders and many others.

What is the selection process?

Each project will be evaluated by NAMIC’s panel members. We invite the project team that applies for Full Project Funding (FPF) to present at NAMIC’s monthly project meeting.

How long does it take to get the co-funding approval?

It typically takes around 16 weeks from the first engagement, depending on complexities and resource availability.

Do I need to buy 3D printer for the project?

No. NAMIC will leverage the Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) and/or Research Institute’s (RI) existing 3D printing centre and infrastructure.

Who will own the Intellectual Property (IP)?

The IP ownership is largely based on inventive contribution.
