About
Temasek Laboratories at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (TL@SUTD) was founded in October 2012, through a collaboration between the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and SUTD.
Our vision
TL@SUTD seeks to establish itself as a Centre of Excellence for Robotics Research, where humans and heterogeneous teams of robots collaborate to accomplish complex missions with autonomy and at high speeds.
Our mission
To conduct cutting-edge research and development for defence and security
TL@SUTD aims to develop high-speed, agile and intelligent robotic systems capable of searching and exploring complex urban environments under challenging conditions, such as rain, smoke, day/night and GPS-denied areas.

Collaboratively established between the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), TL@SUTD undertakes cutting-edge research on defence and security applications, while developing both technical and human talent capabilities in critical research areas.
With our focus on technologies critical to defence, DSO National Laboratories oversees research conducted by TL@SUTD, and fosters closer defence collaborations across cross-disciplinary areas.
A decade of defence research
2022 marked TL@SUTD’s 10th anniversary — a decade of research excellence and new breakthroughs, all as part of the broader TL network established in partnership with NTU and NUS.
