Mr Tan Peng Yam

Chief Defence Scientist, Ministry of Defence

Tan Peng Yam is currently the Chief Defence Scientist of the Singapore Ministry of Defence having served as the Chief Executive of Defence Science and Technology Agency for more than ten years.
 
Peng Yam graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tasmania. He started his career as a research engineer in DSO National Laboratories before going on to assume various appointments in the Singapore Ministry of Defence in the management of research and technology and large scale systems engineering projects; including establishing the Defence Technology Office in Washington DC to expand technology collaboration with the US.
 
Peng Yam is a board member of the Land Transport Authority, the Defence Science and Technology Agency and DSO National Laboratories. He also chairs the Temasek Defence Systems Institute Management Board, the SMRT Technical Advisory Panel and the Cap Vista Private Limited.
 
Peng Yam was conferred the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations Honorary Fellowship in November 2013 and the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2012.
