SUTD Academy Partners Singapore Polytechnic for Data Science Programme

22 Oct 2019

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 18 October 2019. This collaboration will allow SP graduates to receive subject credit exemptions to SUTD Academy’s upcoming new ModularMasters™ (MM) in Data Science programme.

A flexible programme which allows adult learners to aggregate subject credits by taking relevant modules in a stackable manner to culminate in an MM certificate, the MM programme was first launched in 2018 by SUTD Academy –  SUTD’s adult learning institution. Recognised subject credits from the MM programme could subsequently be transferred as advanced credits to pursue a relevant full Master’s degree.

Announced at the launch of SP’s new Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics (DAAA) course, the MoU will allow SP graduates holding a Specialist Diploma in Data Science and DAAA to receive an exemption of up to 18 subject credits on the MM in Data Science programme. SP graduates holding other Specialist Diploma would also receive exemptions for other relevant MM programmes.

SUTD President, Professor Chong Tow Chong, said, “SUTD and SP’s partnership in the ModularMasters™ in Data Science programme will provide adult learners with more flexible education options to stay agile and relevant in the workforce in this age of digital disruption. Adult learners without a basic degree but having relevant technical work experience and meeting the entry requirements, can apply to upskill with the MM in Data Science.”
