This QCT-SUTD MOU extends their aim to democratise networking and facilitate O-RAN ecosystem building with the building of a joint lab. QCT and SUTD will work with OTICs in Singapore and Southeast Asia to co-organise the first O-RAN Plugfest in the region while supporting O-RAN related research.

SUTD held the first OTIC Global Summit on 23 August, inviting experts and industry players from various countries to exchange the latest achievements in 5G technology and discuss the feasibility of large-scale promotion and commercialisation of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN).

Bringing together a diverse team of 17 professors from MIT and institutions in Singapore, SMART M3S will draw expertise from local researchers from Singapore Management University, Singapore University of Technology and Design, the National University of Singapore, and the National Robotics Program of Singapore.

Participants of the Singapore-Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity 301 (SG-ICS301) course will get to learn about Singapore’s OT environment, including red team and blue team exercises using the Secure Water Testbed in SUTD’s iTrust laboratory.

Castomize, a spin-off of SUTD, has come up with a cast for fractured bones using 4D-printing that conforms to a patient’s limb and becomes rigid after cooling down to provide the required support. This patented 4D-printing core technology allows the cast to be reshaped according to how the bone is healing.

The Asian Youth Chinese Forum, organised by the Hwa Chong Institution, aims to provide an open platform for Asian youth to discuss issues related to global development. The guest of honour was Prof Tai Lee Siang, SUTD Head of Pillar (Architecture and Sustainable Design) and Director of the DesignZ.

Instead of benchmarking their achievements against universities elsewhere, our institutions should start focusing on research and partnerships that can make a difference to the region. In her op-ed published on The Straits Times, Prof Lily Kong (SMU President) mentions the Create4Good challenge which is jointly organised by SMU and SUTD.
