SUTD Celebrates Campus Move By Going To The Schools

23 Jan 2015

Singapore – The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) celebrated its move, from its interim campus of three years at Dover Drive, to its brand new campus in the Changi Business Park at 8 Somapah Road today. SUTD will be the first Singapore public university to be located in the east of Singapore.

SUTD students and staff brought convoys of buses and pop-up trucks - six vehicles in total - to various schools across the island, to inform them of the move and provide prospective students the opportunity to experience what the university is about.

Ms Corinna Choong, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “To celebrate this momentous SUTD campus move, we not only hope to bring the message of our move to the students, but also to engage them with the power of technology and design via our unique mobile showcase of our students’ innovations, projects, workshops and performances.”

Students at the schools like Dunman High, Hwa Chong Institution, NUS High, Raffles Institution, Meridian Junior College, Victoria Junior College and Temasek Junior College who participated in the mobile workshops, enjoyed learning about cutting edge technology such as 3D printers, aerial vehicles/drones, electric vehicles, student performances and more. About 150 students and staff were involved in the three convoys.

This celebratory move culminated with the inaugural SUTD Night Fest at the new campus in an evening carnival where SUTD students performed and partied with staff and guests. In total 1,000 people participated in this campus move celebration.
