Mapletree – Paul Ma Kah Woh Bursary

Supported by Mapletree, the Mapletree – Paul Ma Kah Woh Bursary is aimed at providing financial assistance to deserving undergraduates pursuing their studies at SUTD.

Eligibility

  • Open to Singapore Citizens (SC)
  • Full-time undergraduates in any year of study at SUTD
  • Demonstrated financial need with monthly household Per Capita Income of S$2,500 and below
  • Good academic standing
  • Active Fifth Row/CCA and community involvement would be advantageous
  • Must NOT be a current scholarship holder

Tenure

  • The bursary award is tenable for one year only.
  • Recipients may reapply to be considered for the bursary award in their subsequent year of study, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria.

Benefits of Award

  • S$7,000 per annum
  • Award is strictly for tuition fees only
  • Successful recipients may be granted internship and/or career opportunities with Mapletree

Repayment

No repayment required. The bursary award must be refunded (amount equivalent to the total sum disbursed by the University) if the recipient withdraws or have his/her studies terminated prematurely.

THIS BURSARY AWARD IS ESTABLISHED IN HONOUR OF MR PAUL MA KAH WOH:

The naming of the bursary after Mr Paul Ma Kah Woh is to build a legacy that enables future generations of students to learn of Mr Ma’s stewardship and contributions to the real estate sector. Mr Ma served on the Board of Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd for over a decade, and officially retired on 31 January 2022.

He was also a member of the Audit and Risk Committee, Executive Resource and Compensation Committee and Investment Committee prior to his retirement from the Board. 

Mr Ma’s strategic guidance helped Mapletree grow from a Singapore-centric company in the year 2003, to a global company with total assets under management of more than S$78.7 billion (as at 31 March 2022). Most notably, he brought the first Mapletree REIT, Mapletree Logistics Trust, to IPO in 2005, as the Non-Executive Chairman of Mapletree Logistics Trust Management Ltd.

Thereafter, in 2016, he had the unique distinction of also guiding Mapletree North Asia Commercial Trust as the Non-Executive Chairman and Director of Mapletree North Asia Commercial Trust Management Ltd.
