SUTD Special Award

Newly introduced for students admitted to SUTD from 2022 onwards, the SUTD Special Award seeks to recognise students with outstanding and proven achievements and attributes in technology and design, who are passionate and active in contributing to the betterment of the world, and who can contribute to the vibrancy of the SUTD community.

The award provides a grant to be used towards offsetting the students’ tuition fees in their first two terms in SUTD. 
 

ELIGIBILITY

The Award is open to Singapore Citizens* who

  • are applying for admission to SUTD’s undergraduate degree programme

  • possess outstanding and proven outside-of-curriculum achievements and attributes in arts/design/makers/programming/entrepreneurship

  • ​are passionate and active in contributing to the betterment of the world (e.g. in humanity and social causes such as sustainability, social innovation, etc.)

  • possess the attitude, desire, and potential to contribute to the vibrancy of the SUTD community

* As a special concession, the Award may also be awarded to Singapore Permanent Residents or International Students who have demonstrated exceptional attributes.


BENEFITS OF AWARD

The Award covers

  • a one-time grant of S$10,000 to be used towards offsetting the tuition fees in the first two terms.

The Award recipient may be in concurrent receipt of SUTD Community Grant or a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of relevant eligibility criteria.
 
No bond is attached to the Award. The recipient must take up the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) from the Singapore Government to enjoy subsidised fees.
 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Recipients are required to complete at least 10 hours of service to the University. They may take on the role of student ambassador, or any other similar role, representing SUTD to give publicity talks, to receive guests, etc., as and when called upon to do so.

  • Recipients may not, without the approval of the University, hold concurrently any other scholarships or grants.

  • The Award may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the University, the recipient’s academic progress or conduct is deemed unsatisfactory.

  • If the recipient decides to withdraw from the University, SUTD reserves the right to impose a repayment on a case-by-case basis.


APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  • Award recipients will be selected by the Admissions Selection Committee as part of the admission review process. Recipients will be notified of the award along with their admission offer.

  • SUTD reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit.
