Learning objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain fundamental AI and Generative AI concepts relevant to HR functions.
  2. Identify suitable HR tasks where AI can improve productivity and efficiency.
  3. Apply effective prompting techniques to generate HR-related content and outputs.
  4. Use AI tools to support common HR activities such as recruitment, communications and policy drafting.
  5. Evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs through human review and validation.
  6. Apply responsible AI practices relating to privacy, confidentiality and bias awareness.
Day 1

Course Introduction & Module 1: AI, Workplace Transformation and the Future of HR

  • Programme objectives and expected outcomes
  • AI trends, future of work and workplace transformation
  • HR’s role in enabling AI adoption and workforce readiness
  • AI literacy vs AI fluency
  • AI as a personal productivity enabler for HR professionals

Activity: Facilitated discussion on how AI is changing participants’ workplaces and HR roles

 

Module 2: Understanding Generative AI

  • What is AI, Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Overview of ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot
  • Strengths, limitations and common misconceptions
  • Why AI sometimes produces inaccurate responses

Demonstration: Examples of GenAI supporting everyday HR work

 

Module 3: Identifying Personal HR Productivity Opportunities

  • HR communications, job descriptions, employee engagement content
  • Meeting summaries, policy summaries, FAQs and candidate communications
  • Identify tasks that are frequent, repetitive and time-consuming

Discussion: Which personal HR tasks are suitable for AI assistance?

 

Module 4: Workshop – Build Your Personal HR AI Productivity Portfolio

  • Brainstorm five to 10 personal HR productivity tasks
  • Prioritise by frequency, time spent, repetitiveness, AI suitability and productivity gain
  • Select one high-impact personal productivity task for Day 2
  • Complete AI Productivity Canvas

 

Module 5: Project Planning & Day 2 Preparation

  • Refine the selected productivity task
  • Define current workflow, pain points, inputs, expected outputs and success criteria
  • Prepare materials for Day 2 guided project

 

Assessment 1: Open Book Quiz – AI Foundations & Workplace Transformation

  • Auto-marked quiz covering AI fundamentals, workplace transformation, HR productivity opportunities and GenAI capabilities/limitations

  • Confirm selected personal productivity task
  • Clarify expectations for Day 2

Day 2

Day 2 Kick-off: Recap & Bridge from Day 1

  • Review Day 1 portfolio and prioritised personal productivity task
  • Introduce HR AI Productivity Workflow: Identify → Create → Collaborate → Discern → Validate → Reuse

 

Module 1: From HR Task to AI Solution

  • Define the business objective, inputs and expected outputs
  • Break the task into AI-friendly steps
  • Design effective prompts: context, role, instructions and output format

Guided practical: Generate first draft for the selected personal HR productivity task

 

Module 2: Collaborating with AI

  • Move beyond one-shot prompting
  • Prompt refinement, prompt chaining and follow-up questions
  • Use AI to critique, improve tone, improve structure and transform content for different audiences

Guided practical: Refine and improve the same HR deliverable

 

Module 3: Output Discernment & Responsible AI

  • Hallucinations: What they are, why they occur and HR examples
  • Output discernment: Accuracy, completeness, plausibility and independent verification
  • Responsible AI: Privacy, confidentiality, bias awareness, human oversight and accountability

Guided practical: Validate outputs using AI Output Review Checklist and Responsible AI Checklist

 

Assessment 2: Open Book Quiz – Responsible AI & AI Judgement

  • Auto-marked scenario-based quiz covering prompting, hallucinations, output discernment,
  • Responsible AI and appropriate HR use of AI

 

Assessment 3: Workplace AI Productivity Challenge

  • Participants independently select another personal HR productivity task from Day 1 and apply the full HR AI Productivity Workflow

Submission: AI Productivity Canvas, prompt(s), initial output, refined output, final validated output and validation notes

  • Facilitators provide coaching as required; grading is AI-assisted with facilitator moderation

 

Module 5: Build Your Personal HR AI Toolkit & Course Wrap-up

  • Personal prompt library and reusable prompt templates
  • AI Output Review Checklist and Responsible AI Checklist
  • Personal AI productivity workflow and 30-day action plan
  • Final reflection and Q&A
