SUTD-Google Computer Science Summer Institute Extension Program (CSSIx)

This is the first time that Google is partnering with SUTD to run its CSSIx outside of USA! Comprising two weeks of intensive, interactive, hands-on and fun programme at SUTD’s campus and Google’s Singapore office, and a project week* thereafter, the SUTD-Google CSSIx aims to introduce computer science to high school students with a passion for technology, including those with no prior computing or programming background. 

During this time, you’ll have the chance to interact with and learn from Google CSSI instructors and teaching assistants from the USA, as well as SUTD’s faculty who have worked directly with Google to customise the programme. Laptop and software will be provided. 

Students who complete the programme will also be considered favourably in your admission application to SUTD.

* During project week, there are no formal classes. However, there will be designated consultation days where you are welcomed to approach the instructors for advice. 

  • To provide students with an interest in computer science an opportunity to learn what their future career might hold through a specially designed project-based curriculum that includes HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python and Google App Engine.
  • To help students develop their technical skills, build confidence in their abilities, and to inspire and better prepare them to study computer science or closely-related fields, possibly at SUTD.
  • To help participants begin building important personal networks and friendships with a diverse group of students who share their passion for technology and computer science.
  • To introduce students to SUTD’s unique active learning pedagogy and how our curriculum is designed.
  • To give students an inside look at Google's unique environment, community, and culture.
  • To provide exposure and insight into Google’s internship programme and technical career opportunities.

Students must:

  • Be a current student in Junior College Year 1 or 2 of your studies, or Year 5 or 6 of your IB Diploma or NUS High School Diploma studies
  • Have an interest to enroll in SUTD or a computer science, computer engineering or related programme
  • Be able to demonstrate an interest in studying computer science
  • Be able to attend every day of the SUTD-Google CSSIx

We welcome students of all nationalities to apply, as long as you meet the above eligibility criteria. As long as you demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for computer science, no technical background is necessary.

  • All applications will be reviewed jointly by SUTD and Google
  • Successful applicants will be notified by 17 May 2019

No participating fee will be charged for this entire course. We only require your full commitment and enthusiasm.
