A new initiative – Women in Cyber Security
A new initiative – Women in Cyber Security
1. Introduction to iTrust
iTrust: Centre for Research in Cyber Security
Who we are
- Jointly established by SUTD and the MINDEF in 2012
- Core focus is to apply and improve its understanding of cyber threats to cyber-physical systems
- Develop translatable technologies to mitigate cyber threats
What we do
- Proud host of several world-class testbeds and training platforms: SWaT, WaDI, EPIC, IoT
- One-of-a-kind facility for research and training
- Facilitate users in conducting applied research, training, cyber exercises and many more
2. The Gap
- Gender gap in cybersecurity is a well-documented issue globally, and Singapore is no exception.
- Women remain underrepresented in the cybersecurity workforce (around 11-15%) in Singapore
- While women may be entering the cybersecurity field, retaining them in the long term is a challenge. Many women report feeling isolated or overlooked in male-dominated work environments, and the lack of mentorship and career progression opportunities can contribute to higher turnover.
3. Objectives of CypHER
- Support, mentor and empower women in the cyber security field through taking up scholarships like CiMS, professional training and internships.
- Contribute to the growth of the next generation of women leaders and encourage them to take bold strides in cyber security
4. Our initiative
How iTrust intends to contribute
- Training/ Seminars
- Introduction to Cybersecurity/ Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity
- Cryptographic technologies for Maritime
- Provide internship opportunities
- Offer complementary opportunity for local IHL students to get trained in an environment that maintains rarely available hardware and software infrastructure
- Scholarship – CiMS (CSA-iTrust Master of Science in Security by Design Scholarship)
- Scholarship programme that aims to grow and develop the pool of cybersecurity professionals in Singapore
